This is how ARTAlympics works.
((( But first, scroll all the way to the bottom if you think you can't make it. )))
EACH students chooses which two EVENT LESSONS they want to compete in.
They practice skills important to those two events.
On day of the ARTAlympics, we meet at the host school (or location) and assemble (in the gym) for info, then we head to the first Event.
105 minutes for Event ONE, a short break, and 75 minutes for Event TWO.
While the judges are judging, everyone gets long lunch.
This year we hope to have informal entertainment during this time, by a variety of persons/groups. If you know of anyone you would recommend for this,
please email the director.
Then everyone assembles back in the gym for awards.
Team leaders pick up student artwork and everyone heads home.
Family and visitors are free to wander around and look and watch, as artwork is being created. Students in the events should remain in the area/room designated to their EVENT, until it is over (excepting restroom/emergency).
Volunteers: We are always in need of helpers. Please contact the director if you know someone who has a need to get involved, and can't stand standin' around.
ON A BUDGET with TIME and/or MONEY?
Don't let all the 'extras' stop you from coming. Here are a few suggestions to attending the ARTAlympics on the cheap and the quick.
This is the way I did it for my first couple of years- (Greg Bender, Director.)

- Practice with any materials (The ARTAlympics uses middle priced art supplies.) - Name Tags?- just use any piece of paper, a sharpie and duct tape.
- Skip T-shirts, team flag, pins, PMA, etc. - save it all for your second year.
- Lunches; pack them. Also snacks and drinks ( One word; PB-n-J ).
- Charge students one fee, that includes transportation, driver, fuel, snacks, entry fee (and any of the extras you do want).
- Carpool- better to bring a smaller group than no one.
However I can help you, please let me know (Administration/Parents/Logistics/'Whatevs'.)
Let's figure out a way to 'paint' you and your team, into the ARTAlympics family !!!!! - GB
