ARTAlympics - Rules for Team Leaders/Teachers/Chaperones/Monitors and/or other Adults
1. Team Leaders are responsible to ensure that students know the rules.
2. The adult/chaperone must stay in the room of the event they are introducing until all contestants are on task. If your school provided a monitor (chaperone), they may assist the person running an EVENT ROOM, so that he/she can take breaks. Do not leave your room unsupervised.
3. The adult/chaperone should be in their assigned EVENT ROOM for the final 15 minutes of each event to supervise clean-up, labeling of art work, delivery of art work for judging, and the collecting of materials. Please please please make all students clean up!
4. No event room is closed to anyone. Visitors are not to speak to participating students.
5. Students’ questions should be general and addressed to the group so as to avoid giving any individual an unfair advantage.
6. Teachers must not help individual students with problems specific to their piece of art work.
Example of a question teachers may answer:
“Would you clarify contrast for me?”
Example of a question teachers should not answer:
“How can I draw this foot better?”
** Each student’s work should be his/her own.
7. The adult/chaperones are to only introduce (not teach) the events.
8. Please turn cell phones to silent. Please, if you have to take or make a call during an EVENT, step just outside of the room to minimize distractions.
