ARTAlympics - Student Rules
1. All events will start and finish on time. Announcements will be made instructing students when to change events.
2. All participants must stay in the room of their event until the event is over. Students may only leave the room to use the rest room with the permission of an adult supervisor. Students must have a hall pass to be out of the room during any event. Students must return to the event room within 3-5 minutes.
3. Students may not give or receive hands-on help during any event. Each student’s work must be his or her own. Students can give advice to other students, and talk about each other's work and ideas.
4. Contestants may bring phones, and they may use phones for references/info. Phones must be on silent. They may be used to listen to music, only with ear buds/head phones, so long as it isn't loud enough for those close by to hear! It will be considered rude and unsportsmanlike to answer or make calls, during either of EVENTS.
5. Students are encouraged to discuss directions and their work verbally, with one another, since such conferring is considered a learning experience.
6. Students should address general questions regarding their event only to the adult/chaperone that introduces their event.
7. Students must clean up their individual work areas before leaving each event. Supervising adults will inspect student work areas before dismissal. Any student who leaves a mess will be disqualified from that event.
8. Students are expected to exhibit good sportsmanship and be respectful of all art teachers, judges, parents, chaperons, and host school personnel.
9. Students must respect student helpers and hall monitors as they would any adult chaperons.
10. Food and drinks must be consumed only in the cafeteria or on the school lobby area and only during designated times. No drinks / food may be taken into the gym or classrooms.
11. Students caught smoking or vaping will be disqualified.
12. All student participants must stay on campus at all times during ARTAlympics.
13. Do not put your name, initials, or school name on the front of your event entries. Disqualification will result.
14. The host school is not responsible for lost or stolen personal items. Please try not to bring or leave anything of value on your bus, in the schools or in book bags.
