Cars…………..Pencil Drawing…EVENT 2……….7th Grade
What Student is Making:
Students will create an imaginative car design incorporating value scales from white to black, with attention to detail, using a variety of lines.
Teacher Presents:
Show and discuss different makes and models of cars. Note the contour shapes and details.
Review and clarify value range and the benefits of using all values from white to black.
Have students come up with a creative body design (paint job).
Explain that cars will extend to the edges of the paper.
Encourage creativity.
How to Create Artwork:
Step #1 – Photos of cars should be placed so that every student can see them clearly.
Step #2 – Draw the car large so that the bumpers are within a one inch border from the edge of the paper.
Step #3 - Add values and details to achieve realism.
Step #4 – Add an imaginative paint job to the car.
Step #5 – Put name label on the back.
Step #6 – Clean up.
What Judges Are Looking For:
1. Car fills the page up to a 1 inch border from the sides
2. Car is realistic
3. Full range of values are used
4. Drawing should resemble real automobiles.
5. Cars should have imaginative design on the body of the car.
6. Craftsmanship is neat.

9 x 12 white paper
Ruler
