6th Grade EVENT 2: Mixed Media "Illuminated Letters"
What the student is making:
Students will create add sign of an initial using a variety of luminous materials such as metallic pencils and gold paint to emulate the style of an Illuminated Manuscript.
Directions:
1. Sketch out your stylized letter/initial design on black paper, remember to fill the whole paper up to the border.
2. There should be a 1" border design.
3. Fill in the design and surrounding area with metallic pencils, gold or silver paint and construction paper crayons.
4. Print your name NEATLY on the label and the adhere to the back of your artwork. **Double check the school name and your ID # .
5. Turn in your artwork and clean up!
What the Judges are looking for:
The artwork has a decorative and stylized initial.
They used a variety of luminous materials.
There is a 1" border surrounding the design.
There is a variety of lines used to create patterns and textures.
The project is neat and well executed.
